Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Jonathan W. Alting who was born  on April 24, 1954 and passed away on May 07, 2005 at the age of 51. We will remember him forever. Jonathan touched so many lives in his short 51 years.  Jonathan loved his wife Melanie more than anything. They were inseperabale. Melanie was at his side day and night, and nursed him through his illnesses.  Without her, we would not have had him as long as we did.

Jonathan also loved life very much, and lived life to the fullest.  Everything he did, he put his all into it.  He took life seriously, yet at the same time, he saw humor in so much.  He had his own special sense of humor, that everyone cherished.  He loved people, was the most giving and loving person..he would have given anything he had to someone, if he thought they needed it more than he did.

Jonathan suffered a brain injury in August of 2001. He had brain surgery, was in a coma and went through extensive rehabilitation. As a result, Jonathan suffered a lot of physical and cognitive limitations. About 1-1/2 years into his recovery, Jon began to paint again. He had done some painting in college, but did not continue it. As he painted, his focus and concentration improved. He was able to multi-task and increased his productivity, but most important for Jonathan, his self esteem returned. Jonathan improved so much, he went to Florida for 7 weeks to be certified in the Bob Ross Method of painting. It was quite an accomplishment for him.
Jonathan was also extremely active in Martial Arts.  Jonathan attended Master Kim's Blackbelt Studio in Boyertown, PA.

In April 2004, Jonathan was diagnosed with Mantle Lymphoma.  He underwent treatment, but even while undergoing chemotherpay, he continued his Tae Kwon Do, his painting, and was very active.  He went to the YMCA every day, and rode the stationary bike for 25 miles!  In fact, when Jon went to the hospital in December for his stem cell transplant, he took a bike to the hospital with him and continued to exercise.  He practiced his martial arts while in the hospital, and donated a painting to the hospital.  He came home in January, and continued to live life with his normal passion.  April 6th, Jon was admitted to the hospital with an infection.  He passed away on May 7th.  We were praying for his recovery....Jon had people praying for him that didn't even know him.    In a sense, our prayers were answered.  Maybe not the way we wanted them to be, but God has plans for Jonathan.  He gave him the ultimate recovery, and now Jon is with God, surely fullfilling God's plans for him with the same love and passion that he had when he fulfilled his time on earth.  We are grieving, and missing him, but his memory will always be cherished.  He would want us to smile when we think of him.
